Pushing Limits in Sending Large-Volume Documents over the Internet

Sending large files and documents over the internet via email is usually limited to 10-12MB. Opolis Secure Mail is all changing that.

One of the challenges of today´s email traffic is the handling of a substantial increase in file size of documents which are sent over the internet. Depending on firm policy and email service provider it is quite common that a transfer of attachments exceeding 10-12MB is not possible. This leaves the sender with the choice to compress file attachments or to slice files into smaller packages which are sent in sequence. Both are usually quite cumbersome procedures and do take time and effort. In the case of applying compression software on the sender side, the same software would subsequently be required on the recipient side to unbundle the respective document. – Or, the sender might simply choose the “old way” in sending a large-size document via postal services …

Opolis Secure Mail (http://www.opolis.eu) has worked on this issue for a number of years and just recently launched its service which allows file size transfers of up to a volume of 125MB. This seems sufficient to accommodate current demand.

Opolis was originally established with a view to make email and document traffic more secure, as any file transfer is point-to-point encrypted. Hence, even if intercepted, documents can only be interpreted and read by the authorized recipient and nobody else. Further, with Opolis the sender has always full authority over how the recipient can further process a message. The sender decides whether the recipient may copy, print, respond to or forward a message or not. And, the sender is also empowered to monitor and follow the entire path of a message.

The access to the service of Opolis is easy and for free. Only requirement is that both, the sender and the recipient are Opolis users to ensure that large size documents are transmitted safely and entirely secure. Should demand indicate the requirement to further increase the current limit of 125MB, then Opolis has indicated that it will consider enabling the transmission of even larger documents.
